LIFE STRESS REDUCTION WORKSHOP
About the LIFE STRESS REDUCTION WORKSHOP
Life Stress Reduction (LSR), part of the larger subject of Applied Metapsychology, is a full program which makes use of a broad array of techniques. A Life Stress Reduction Case Plan is tailored to meet the needs of a particular viewer (client), utilizing a combination of the available techniques to address the particular life issues that people experience: emotional pain, resistance, confusion, relationship or self-image problems, in fact any issues that cause stress.
It also includes techniques that address past traumatic incidents in a less direct way than is done with TIR for individuals who are not ready to face their most traumatic experiences. The LSR Workshop also includes many practical, effective techniques to prepare a client for TIR.
This Workshop presents a new paradigm of safety and effectiveness for helping others. The structured techniques taught in this workshop are easy to learn and to apply. At the same time, they are very efficient and powerful in helping viewers to release emotional charge and resolve issues that may have challenged them for years.
Upon completing the Life Stress Reduction – Case Planning Workshop, a facilitator can expect to get good results applying what has been learned. This workshop also include skill-building exercises, an opportunity to give and receive supervised Life Stress Reduction sessions, and practice in developing customized case plans using the wide variety of techniques taught.
Objectives: As demonstrated through examination and supervised activities, the student will be able to:
While appropriate for use in a therapeutic setting, and while its results may be viewed as therapeutic in nature, Applied Metapsychology, its methods, and techniques, are a form of highly disciplined and structured integrative education, which results in personal improvement. The structure and safety built into the subject make it well suited for community mental health and peer co-counseling. See also Applied Metapsychology: Therapy or Personal Growth? by Frank A. Quality of life is all about a person being able to use their full abilities, being freed from painful events of the past and confusing situations in the present. Life Stress Reduction takes up the issues of most interest and importance to your client, addressing each issue with a variety of specific person-centered techniques, until they feel that issue is resolved.
What results your clients can expect?
When we are stuck in a negative place, mentally or emotionally, it can be hard to remember that life can have a rewarding, luminous, engaging quality. It can be uplifting, exciting, and fulfilling. At the end of Life Stress Reduction one feels a new freshness and interest in life, along with diminished concern about both past events and current life situations that had been troublesome before.
As a Life Stress Reduction Facilitator you will be able to provide a wide variety of approaches to assist your clients in addressing any given issue. Using lighter Life Stress Reduction techniques can aid your clients in building up ego strength, enabling them to be able eventually to go through the worst of any trauma and/or stress issues they feel they want to address. The many techniques in Life Stress Reduction besides TIR are also good for people who don’t have many traumas in their lives. If your client feels they have other issues or areas of life that they would like to improve, and/or if they simply want to grow beyond where they currently are, the LSR workshop will give you the tools that will help them to reach their goals.
As with TIR, Life Stress Reduction is done in private sessions. A Life Stress Reduction Program is generally completed in 8 to 12 sessions. Each session can take a varying amount of time. 1½ hours is typical. You will know when your client's Life Stress Reduction is complete by their sense of increased quality of life, as well as increased energy and interest.
Common issues that clients wish to address include: traumatic experiences, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, job or career concerns, dreaded future events, financial problems, and health concerns, but can include any subject of interest. The variety of different types of techniques typically used through the program address each main area of concern from different angles and at different levels until that area is fully handled to your client's satisfaction.
The LSR Workshop presents a new paradigm of safety and effectiveness for helping others. Upon completing this training, a practitioner can expect to have excellent results applying what has been learned.
To quickly raise a newly trained practitioner’s level of skill and confidence, a post-workshop internship is recommended. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practicing social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, clergy, Lay Ministers & CIS debriefers.
How is LSR Learned
The Life Stress Reduction Workshop is taught in a 3 or 4-day, 28 hour workshop. It consists of a small group of usually 4-8 students. Most workshops are given on site in Smithfield, Maine, but a workshop can be brought to your location, as well.
The information is learned through teaching, watching real videos of real clients receiving LSR, and is practiced in co-facilitation sessions where the students both give and receive sessions. Although this is strongly advised, a student does not need to participate in co-facilitation to receive the 28 CEs.
The workshop can be given on 3 or4 consecutive days or over a period of a of couple weeks.
LSR is a form of "integrative learning" and is not considered counseling, therefore it can be used by professional counselors as well as those in other help-related environments. TIR is well suited for use in the areas of family violence, sexual assault, veteran's services, public safety, churches, school settings, crisis debriefing, etc.
LSR is not culture specific. It is used around the world in a variety of settings.
